Lampard takes over from former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who was shown the door just sin months into the role.
Lampard started his coaching career with Derby County in 2018, before taking over as head coach at former club Chelsea.
He guided the Blues to fourth place in the Premier League and the FA Cup final in his first season in charge.
Lampard will work with Joe Edwards as his Assistant Manager, Paul Clement as First Team Coach, and Chris Jones as First Team Coach and Head of Performance.
